SPIRITUAL: Grounding Prayer for Anxiety (A 5-Minute Practice)

Why grounding prayer can calm the nervous system

When anxiety rises, your body shifts into a protective state. A short, steady prayer paired with breath can help you return to safety and presence.

A 5-minute grounding prayer (step-by-step)

  • Sit with both feet on the floor and soften your shoulders.

  • Inhale for 4, exhale for 6. Repeat 5 times.

  • Pray: “God, steady my mind and strengthen my heart.”

  • Name 3 things you can see, 2 you can feel, 1 you can hear.

  • Close with gratitude: “Thank You for carrying me through this moment.”

When to use it

Use this practice before difficult conversations, after triggering news, or anytime you notice racing thoughts.
